Yukina Tokumoto

1986年、神奈川県横浜市生まれ。2008年学習院大学日本語文学科卒業。学士号取得後、株式会社ミリアルリゾートホテルに入社し、ディズニーホテルの宿泊部ゲストサービス課にて10年働いた後、絵本作家及びイラストレーターとしての道を極めるべくイギリス留学を志し、2017年より水彩画家佐原和人氏に師事。2018年6月に単身イギリスに渡り、ロンドンのMiddlesex University；MA　Children's book illustration and Graphic novelsに大学院留学。イギリスを代表する絵本作家であるMartin Ursell氏に師事し、2019年に同コースを首席で卒業。2020年に帰国しアーティスト活動を開始する。

「物語る絵」を描くこと、いかなる状況下でも直感的に絵を描くこと、絵を通して人を笑顔にすることを得意とし、絵画の製作だけでなく、企業やレストラン、ショップとのコラボレーション、大学の交通広告やCDジャケットのデザイン、音楽をライブで描くライブドローイング等、幅広く活動する。2021年3月に個展「Yukina Tokumotoスケッチブック展」を開催。同年7月、元町ショッピングストリートの夏のオリジナル団扇のデザインを手掛ける。 2021年12月、元町商店街のクリスマスポスターを担当するとともに、アメリカ山ガーデンアカデミーにて、二回目となる個展「One day!」と子どもたちへのワークショップを開催。 同月、2022年高校サッカー選手権のテーマ曲となる上白石萌音さんの新曲「懐かしい未来」（2022年1月1日リリース）の配信ジャケットのデザインに作品が公募で選出される。2022年3月より、月刊誌「寒弾」の表紙絵とコラムの執筆を一年間担当。4月、横浜市のアメリカ山公園10周年記念アート作品を制作。当デザインは横浜ローズウィークのスタンプラリー参加者記念のポストカードに採用されると共に、元町と山手を結ぶアメリカ山公園の壁面アートとなる。同年5月と11月、玉川大学の春と秋の交通広告のデザインを手掛け、首都圏のJRと私鉄７３駅に大型広告が掲示される。2024年2月、神奈川県国際文化観光局が主催するコンペ「バーチャル開放区」にて、音楽とアートのコラボレーションによる映像作品「Rediscovery!」が審査委員特別賞を受賞。同年3月、ギタリスト／ウクレレ奏者である本間尚樹氏のCDアルバム「Sweet Sorrow」のジャケット原画とデザインを手掛ける。

Yukina Tokumoto was born in Japan. She held Bachelor of Arts in the Japanese Language and Literature in Gakushuin University in Japan in 2008, specialized in “Waka” which is a traditional form of poetry consisting of thirty-one syllables. After graduating from her first Degree, she began to work at Millial Resort Hotels Co., Ltd., and she exerted herself to the customers' satisfaction and improvement of work environment using consulting skills and leadership. Having worked as one of the chiefs of the guest service section in a Disney Hotel for more than a decade, she decided to pursue her passion as a professional illustrator and study MA Children’s Book Illustration and Graphic Novels under Martin Ursell, experienced professional autor and illustrator, at Middlesex University in London. In order to enrol at Middlesix University, she learned arts under watercolour artist Kazuhito SAHARA at Asahi JTB Culture Centre for six months from September 2017.

Her wish is to make people smile through Children’s books. At the same time, her unfailing curiosity is always focused on the origin of things created by the countless feelings of different minds such as culture and history. She is eager to show many children the pleasure that comes from knowing it, and she hope they are able to feel joy of living in various environments.
